Noreen Naseer

AREA OF INTEREST AND SPECIALIZATION Dr. Noreen Naseer is a resident of Kurram, the former Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and now Merged Districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province in Pakistan

Dr. Noreen Naseer is a resident of Kurram, the former Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and now Merged Districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province in Pakistan. She is part of the faculty at the Department of Political Science, University of Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. She is working on the issues of tribal women of Merged Tribal Districts since 1998 and a founding member of Qabailee Khor (Tribal Sisters Network). She is a member of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Commission on the Status of Women, representing tribal women. She is also a part of online outreach program of the Women Regional Network. She has several publications in international and academic journals on Pak-Afghan border areas’ conflict, peace building and issues related to women and children. Her work entitled FATA “A Permanent War Zone”: Breaking Silence published in “Women and Politics of Peace: South Asia Narratives on Militarization, Power and Justice”, Sage Publication December 2016 is a pioneer research on women living in the Pak-Afghan borderland. For her efforts on peace building and tribal women’s plight, she was nominated for N- Peace Un-Told Stories Award, 2018 by the United Nations Development Program.
